Elevators for the disabled: solutions beyond any barrier

Elevators for the disabled: solutions beyond any barrier

What Pangea does is identify with the multiple realities of each person to come up with helpful solutions. One of these realities is disability and obstacles related to the freedom to move without hindrance. For this reason, the most important word in the field of elevators for the disabled is above all one: adaptability; which then rhymes with versatility.

Where there are architectural barriers (all too frequent), Pangea intervenes, offering a solution to the obstacle and building elevators tailored to people’s needs.

Architectural barriers are all those elements that constitute a limitation or impediment to the accessibility for people with disabilities, interfering with the freedom of movement that everyone should have. Accessibility is a person’s right and any step, ladder or constructive obstacle that limits his freedom must be removed. Literally and physically.

In fact, it often happens that a home or structure, perhaps dated, does not have the predisposition to house an elevator inside. In fact, it is not always possible to intervene by building an elevator inside the building due to problems that would lead to the load-bearing structure. This obstacle no longer exists, since Pangea does not stop in front of the limit it encounters, but builds around it. The solution is to look further: building elevators and external lifting platforms is the step beyond the problem.

External elevators: custom solutions

Pangea’s first step is to offer a safe product; safe because the platforms are equipped with a speed limiter that avoids the uncontrolled movement of the platform. This limiter can be compared to the devices present and mandatory in lifts compliant with amendment A3 (which includes the rules relating to controls on uncontrolled movements of the cabin and on its stopping). In addition, thanks to the management of the double speed, the starts and stops of the lift are soft and precise. Thanks to this system, annoying movements that could create discomfort to the person will be avoided.

The second step, however, is Pangea’s ability to integrate the solution into any environment. The lift of the EW Flex line is one of the electric lifts that combines two fundamental elements in the Pangea world: versatility in integrating into an existing space and the eco-friendly concept. The result is a successful combination that has reached Germany and Austria. In addition to Italy.

An example of this ability to adapt to any type of structure is one of the elevators of the EW Flex line, installed in the province of Trento.

Remembering that an external lift is the perfect solution to facilitate mobility for those with a walking disability, in this case it has been designed to integrate perfectly with the housing solution.

The space has been exploited to the fullest: in fact, to further facilitate mobility, an external walkway has been placed in correspondence with the second floor capable of putting the lift in direct communication with the balcony. In addition, the design was also configured in line with the architecture and style of the house. The result is therefore perfectly balanced between efficiency, safety, comfort and aesthetics.
